Can you imagine there is no Ophthalmologist or Optometrist, no drugstore to buy reading glasses from?  There is absolutely no vision care in Southern Sudan. We have taken suitcase loads of discarded prescription eye glasses into that country.  I can remember one man who was about 50 to 60 years old (very old for Sudanese standards) who came up to me after we had given away glasses on one occasion, he was warring a pair of bright red, big rimmed women’s glasses and he was smiling from ear to ear.  His words were simple, “Thank you so much! I haven’t been able to read for years and now I can read again, thank you, thank you so much!”  What a joy it was to bless him!
