Pray for Spiritual Renewal
God is the hope of Sudan. Please pray that He will pour Himself out on Sudan in a nation-transforming move of the Holy Spirit. We are receiving invitations from all over the nation to bring the gospel to their area. Some of these places are Moslem strongholds that are now ready to hear the message of Jesus Christ. Pray that God will make it possible to follow up on the opportunities we have in Sudan.
Pray for Christian Leaders
Pray that Christian leaders will be filled with the love and power of God, that they will value and appreciate one another and that the different Christian groups operating in Southern Sudan will bless one another. Pray that they will have the vision and faith to see a culture-impacting move of God in Sudan. Pray that these leaders will love God and His people more than their own agenda.
Pray for the Defeat of the Lord's Resistance Army
The LRA represents itself as an opposition group resisting the inequality of the Ugandan government by an armed struggle to form a separate government in the northern portion of the nation. The facts strongly suggest that the LRA is an extremely violent and brutal terrorist organization that has no real concern for the needs of the people of northern Uganda whom they claim to represent. However, some northerners do support them. In the last year, because of pressure from the Ugandan government, the LRA has operated more than usual in Sudan and Congo. Pray that this group will be eliminated.
Pray for Safety and Effective Ministry
Those we are working with there need our continual prayer support. Mark, our field representative living and working in Southern Sudan, needs daily prayer. He is working in a very difficult environment with far more to do that one person can accomplish. We also have a number of Sudanese nationals working with us that need our prayer support.
Pray for Those Preaching the Gospel
Pray for the safety of Sudanese Christians who are preaching the Good News under very difficult circumstances. Sudanese Christians are risking their lives every day to spread the message of Jesus Christ. Pray that God will pour out His life on that nation. Pray for health and safety of evangelists who travel in Sudan. There are several groups such as the Sudan Pentecostal Church, the Anglicans, the Catholics and others who have been there through all the war years, pray that God will bless those who stayed and ministered for their faithfulness.
Pray for Lasting Peace
The people of Southern Sudan have known nothing but war for years. As you know the peace agreement was finally signed just over a year ago. But so much more needs to happen to bring about lasting peace. It will take God's direct intervention for this latest peace to become permanent.
Pray That the Peace Accord Will Work
Pray that the profit-sharing portion of the peace agreement will really work for the people of the South. So far there is little sign that the money promised in the profit sharing agreement and from other nations is making its way into real infrastructure projects in the South.
Pray for the Governments of The World
Pray that they will stand up for the poor and oppressed of Sudan. Many donor nations have made pledges to support Southern Sudan but as of yet have not made good on their commitments.
