Next Day Discipleship School

We have been totally amazed by the number of people who have made decisions for Christ in the last two years. The big challenge is discipling all of these people who are turning to Christ. We are ministering to people from all over the county; there are no roads, no telephones and follow-up is very difficult. In addition, our churches in these communities are often less than a year old and don't even have adequate buildings in which to meet. However, a few years ago the big challenge was getting them to respond to the Gospel. We would hold meetings and people would stare back at us with unresponsive blank faces. I like the new problem better!

We are experimenting with different ways to follow-up and disciple all the people who are receiving Christ. We always give them literature that explains the five first steps we are focusing on: 1)Salvation, 2)Water baptism, 3)Holy Spirit baptism. 4)The Bible and 5)Establishment in the Church. The crusades are always held in the afternoon and evenings so the following morning we give a "Next-Day Discipleship School" which is several hours of training in the basics as well as personal prayer for those who attend.

We also are giving training intensives in all the churches we have planted in the last year. We are helping the people of the local congregations develop ministry skills. At least a third of those who are receiving Christ  through our efforts are students between 10 and 26 yeas of age. We have discipleship teams that itinerate through the schools ministering to the students in these five basics. Thank God for that open door.

We are currently training about 100 young people in leadership and ministry principles; but we don't yet know how many of them will actually become active in ministry. The need for trained workers is overwhelming. Right now we don't have enough leaders, pastors or churches to adequately follow up and disciple all the people who are receiving Christ. The villages are spread over a wide area. It has been estimated that the other churches in the area,  already established, have grown by about 20% through our evangelism efforts. We have also been training their leaders in evangelism and follow-up.
