![]() | Gary Short Gary and Louise planted and pastored a church in Seattle, Washington for eleven years and pastored Safe Harbor Foursquare church in Anacortes for ten years. Gary has served on the boards of relief and development organizations, preached in many denominational settings, and taught both Christian and business groups on leadership development. His insight into developing-world countries and pastoral issues has developed over the last 30 years of involvement with ministry to the persecuted church in such places as the former Soviet Union and Eastern Block countries, Mozambique, Uganda and the Sudan. Gary has been ministering in Sudan since 1998. Gary has also lead leadership conferences throughout Africa. |

| Magnum Swiggart has been on the Hope for the Future team since November of 2008. He acts as an advisor to our leaders there. He has been an invaluable member of our Jesus Film outreach team and has also made a big impact through one on one mentoring and teaching in leadership intensives. Magnum also spends time ministering in our local churches. | |
![]() | Louise Short Louise Short speaks on behalf of Hope for the Future in churches in the west and leads the ministry combining her experience in relief and development, networking with other ministries, and passing on her love for the Lord and evangelism passion to young leaders. Louise Short has spent the past 20 years working fulltime in management for the African Children’s Choir, a NGO helping children in crisis in Africa. For 10 years she was the East Africa field coordinator, and worked as liaison between the ACC and its partner African NGOs, as well as a missions pastor in the US. She has been involved with Sudan since 1993 and because of her passion for ministry there, she now focuses her efforts fully on Sudan. Louise and her husband Gary have been leading teams to Sudan since 1998. Louise’s experience has given her wisdom in working in the African cultures, in long term ministry to war traumatized children, in the needs of the persecuted, in relief and development, and in church planting. Louise Recently left her position with the African Children's Choir to work full time for Hope For The Future efforts in Southern Sudan. |
![]() | William Asili William Asili is our Central Equtoria state ministry coordinator. He manages the base in Kajo Keji, and trains and oversees pastors in that region. He is the overseer of church planting and church life there and moves from church to church helping pastors grow and develop in their ministry. Wiliam came to know the Lord while overhearing teaching as he oversaw a building project where we were meeting. His gentle spirit, wisdom, and passion for the Lord are a great joy and asset in the ministry. |
![]() | As of 2009 Mark Warkentin is no longer with the HFF team. We appreciate the years of faithful service Mark gave to the people of Southern Sudan. Through his ministry people were immensely blessed. Many people came to Christ through Marks efforts. We will miss Mark and wish him well. |
![]() | Morris Bukenya We have known Morris and Christine Bukenya since 1987; Morris pastors a large church in Kampala Uganda and is the overseer of the Eden Revival Churches, a group of about 70 churches in East Africa. He has been deeply involved in our ministry to Sudan since 1998. Pastor Bukenya's leaders have been instrumental by training our emerging leaders in conducting village outreach festivals. We greatly appreciate the advisory role that Morris fills, helping us understand the culture and politics. |
![]() | Karen Grubbs Karen Grubbs has served as the Children's Pastor at Safe Harbor Foursquare Church for the last 5 years. She has ministered to children for many years, it is her hearts desire to see children passionately serving God. Karen works to fill children with knowledge of the Bible and equip them practically to live their lives as Christians. Her ministry is not only focused on ministering to children in Anacortes, but reaches around the world to Southern Sudan. Since 2002 Karen has traveled to Southern Sudan sharing the gospel and God the Father's love for the children. Besides ministering to the children, she has taken on the task of training children's workers and leaders in Southern Sudan. Karen is a licensed Foursquare minister. She also the mother of five children her youngest two Jacob 18 and Jessica 13 still live at home with her. Karen's goal is to see children here and Africa walking passionately with Jesus. |
![]() | Ronald Kasenge Ronald Kasenge the worship training director of the Eden Churches has responded to God's call to help us develop worship leaders from among those in our training programs. Ronald is helping to work with the evangelism team and working with the discipleship training and mentoring ministry. Ronald is not only a great worship trainer he is an outstanding shaper of character in young men. |
![]() | Fred and Susan Bowdy The Bowdy’s are an indispensable part of Hope For The Future's ministry in Sudan. Although neither of them has been to Southern Sudan yet they do our financial accounting, newsletter and booklet production, and even put on an annual Sudan banquet for our donors. Fred and Susan are amazing people who work tirelessly behind the scenes helping to keep the administrative side of the ministry moving forward. |
